Exporting Differences
For file and directory comparisons, you can export the differences in XML, text, and HTML formats. HTML exports are supported for XML files (2- and 3-way comparisons), text files (2- and 3-way comparisons), and directory comparisons.
The available export formats depend on the selected comparison mode (see table below):
File comparison | XML, Text, HTML | XML, HTML | n.a. | XML | n.a. |
Directory comparison | XML, Text, HTML | XML, Text, HTML | XML, Text | XML, Text | XML, Text |
To export differences, take the steps below:
1.Run a file or directory comparison.
2.Click Export differences in the File menu.
3.Enter a destination file name, select the desired format, and click Save.
If you are comparing files in XML mode, a certain combination of options causes the Export Differences command to be disabled. To enable the command, do the following:
1.Click Comparison Options in the Tools menu.
2.Click the XML tab.
3.Select the Detailed differencing check box.
4.Clear the Ignore node depth check box.
